Our story

Founded in 1989, for many years Chainbow built its reputation and expertise in the commercial property sector, initially as an owner and operator, and then as an asset manager on behalf of clients. In 2006 we turned our focus on to the residential sector, managing blocks and estates to the same high standards and level of transparency demanded by commercial property owners. We quickly gained a reputation as a trouble-shooter, taking on difficult assets sometimes beset by years of problems.

In 2012 Chainbow refocused again, and brought its long experience of asset management, estate management, and customer service to the Private Rented Sector (PRS). This was combined with front-end lettings and flat management expertise to make Chainbow a truly full service residential asset manager.

Today each member of the Chainbow team has the sole aim of delivering outstanding service to our customers of every description, and doing so openly and transparently, whilst having a smile on our faces.

The team

Roger Southam

Chairman and Chief Executive

Roger founded Chainbow in 1989, and has delivered returns on property assets with a combined value of over £1 billion. In 2006 he switched Chainbow from being a commercial asset manager to a residential one, bringing all of the disciplines and professional standards of the commercial property world to the residential sector.

Today Roger’s unwavering obsession with the highest standards of customer service, transparency, and fairness, provides continuous inspiration to the Chainbow team.

Roger is also Chairman of the Leasehold Advisory Service, Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors, a member of the Residential Management Committee of the British Property Federation, and sits on the Administrative Burdens Advisory Board of HMRC. He is also an avid golfer, and a tireless supporter of the children’s medical charity Sparks.

Nigel Bosworth

Managing director

Nigel has spent his entire career helping renters find decent homes, and delivering consistent returns for investment landlords.

He has long and direct experience of the whole of the Central London lettings market, working face to face with renters to understand and fulfill their needs. He also has direct experience within the Serviced Apartment sector, providing short term fully serviced accommodation to corporate travelers. Even with 17 years at the sharp end of residential lettings, Nigel still conducts viewings from time to time which keeps him in touch.

He has a long track record of successfully advising both private and institutional clients, and understands that investment returns are maximised by driving income and controlling costs only when renters and owners are treated with transparency and fairness. Nigel believes that renting should be a positive choice for people looking for a home, and is almost evangelical about what the Build-to-Rent sector can do for renters and investors alike. He now advises clients on Private Rented Sector development opportunities across the country.

Gail Lawrence

Client Services Director

For the last ten years, Gail has been on the front line of the residential management sector taking care of renters and leaseholders and their homes. Having started out as a property manager in a local branch of a lettings agent, attracted by the bright lights of London she joined Chainbow in 2008.

Gail understands that what leaseholders want is a well-managed building, reasonably priced service charge and exceptional customer service and communication. She advises developers on the levels of service charge for new build blocks, calculates apportionments to ensure that costs are fairly distributed and works with the project managers to advise on design and management considerations that will make the building a better place to live in and to manage.

Gail keeps a firm eye on client’s investments producing detailed bespoke reporting and annual budgets to ensure expenditure stays on track. She stays abreast of current legislation and case law, which coupled with a decade of on the job experience allows her to provide advice and troubleshooting to a number of private and corporate clients.  She is perfectly placed to advise on the scope and designs of Private Rented Sector development opportunities with the end product and the renter experience always in focus.

Niccie Stor

Operations Director

Niccie is Chainbow’s Operations Director and is responsible for overseeing the running of the Estates Department including Estate & Property Management, and Client Accounting. Having worked for Chainbow since 2007 starting out as an Assistant Estate Manager Niccie now also takes care of the systems and processes within the estates department and ensures that outstanding customer service is at the heart of everything the department does. 

Niccie oversees Chainbow’s bespoke customer portal MyChainbow, which along with Chainbow’s social media and website are just some of the exciting ways that Chainbow seeks interaction from the people who we work with, be they renters, leaseholders, corporate or private landlords.

It’s not all office based however, Niccie regularly gets out to site to ensure the buildings are running smoothly and loves nothing more than bumping into tenants and leaseholders onsite for some direct feedback.


Chainbow’s approach to supporting the community has evolved and strengthened as the company has grown.

Chainbow is a long term supporter of leading children’s medical research charity, Sparks, raising funds through running and climbing challenges, event sponsorship, quiz and entertainment evenings and golf days and holidays.

Chainbow is expanding its charitable support to include volunteering in the community and the sponsorship of a child through Action aid.
