Eastern Europe Shopping Centre Asset Management
In 2006 Roger Southam was asked by aAIM to help in their foray in to Eastern Europe and consult as Asset Manager on shopping centres they had acquired in Poland. The centres were in Gniezno and Konin and to say the least were challenging centres.
Even with the investment market racing away it looked like a combination of bad financial structuring and lack of working capital was going to strangle the performance of the centres and result in losses for the celebrity backed fund.
Roger used all his guile, skill and retailing strategy to thread a path that produced a solution for both centres and enabled profits to be achieved on the sale of each.
aAIM, undaunted continued to seek new opportunities and used Roger’s skills on the subsequent acquisitions in Eastern Germany, Czech Republic and Hungary.
The collapse of aAIM casued co investors in Hungary to take over that Centre and the German one was handed back to the bank.
